What is Enabling Good Lives (EGL)?
The Government has initiated a ‘disability system transformation’, co-designed by Government agencies and the wider disability sector. The ‘Enabling Good Lives’ (EGL) vision is to empower the disabled people, and their whānau/family, by giving them greater choice and control over their lives and the supports they receive.
MidCentral District Health Board has been selected to launch the prototype from 1 October 2018. The approach will be ‘Try, Learn and Adjust’. MASH, people supported and their whānau in this District Health Board region will be involved in the monitoring and evaluation process which will contribute to refining the final model for roll out across New Zealand.
With the introduction of EGL from 1 October 2018, MASH will have the opportunity to share our expertise and knowledge to the wider community and expand our reach to offer new services to meet the current and future needs of the disabled community.
