YOUTH RESPITE STAYS

MASH provides respite short term stays of up to seven days for young people aged between 5-18 years who are experiencing mental health issues or need a break from their everyday environment in Palmerston North. The goals of youth respite are safety, stabilisation, and ongoing treatment in a youth friendly home environment in a rural setting, supported by confident and competent youth workers.

Referrals for respite are received through CAFS, mental health services, or your health professional.

Once an initial assessment has taken place and the young person meets the eligibility criteria, access to this service can be immediate if there is a vacancy available.
